“Our belief is that the next major step in relational database technology will be the creation of an append data only database kernel facility which brings step change simplicity to application development and the ability to create more functionally rich applications. The database kernel will deliver all the existing requirements for logical insert, update and delete but achieve this with a methodology which only appends data into the database. The kernel will be more streamlined and functional than existing relational database architectures and release enterprise application into a new generation of operational productivity and performance. Referential integrity and data integrity across the period of data existence will be autonomously maintained by the kernel.
The heart of this capability is the relationship between time and data. Time is the most important and constant metric to how data can be stored and related. To this end we have developed what we believe is the optimal way to address this – a comprehensive set of algorithms which fully encompass relational database theory and the Ld8a framework is the technical evidence that this can be achieved.”
